The ministry in Papua New Guinea faces difficulties. Still, the dedication and resilience of the community and its pastors continue to positively impact people’s lives in the regions in which they work.

The Melanesian Evangelical Churches of Christ is an Indigenous-led, self-governing movement committed to church planting and leadership training in three districts of Papua New Guinea.

Local leaders, pastors, and evangelists work among the wantok groups, conducting Bible studies, discipleship training, and crusades in local languages. Church members and pastors often walk for several days during a regional renewal, crusade, or teaching program because they all live and worship in remote settings.

Despite the challenges, the church and people’s spiritual development is growing. Four churches have recently been planted in a new ethnic group that the Melanesian Evangelical Churches of Christ had never previously reached, which is a testament to their resilience.
