A Safer World For All

Australia is one of the safest, healthiest, and historically one of the most generous countries in the world.

Yet, our aid contribution is only 0.65% of the federal budget. International aid is now almost half what it was under Prime Ministers Howard, Rudd, and Gillard. As threats to our world are intensifying, Australia has given less.

The good news is that Global Mission Partners can help change this. In the lead-up to the federal election in May, you can join us as we partner with Micah Australia.

The Safer World for All campaign is a national call to contact political parties and candidates and ask them to commit to an Australian Aid Budget of 1% of the federal budget.

Micah Australia has conducted over 60 meetings with MPs to advocate for aid, reflecting strong support within the Christian community. These meetings have helped urge the government to maintain and strengthen Australia’s aid program to demonstrate global leadership and uphold values of compassion and justice.

During the year, Global Mission Partners staff have attended Micah events at Parliament House and network dinners to show our support and commitment to a safer world for all.

In March, Global Mission Partners staff Carly Cassidy and Cathy Chang attended one of the Micah Women’s Network Dinners in Melbourne. “Through the women’s network initiative, Micah has a heart to further elevate, connect, and equip established and emerging women leaders, to be effective and well-supported advocates for change,” Carly shared.
